Agricultural marketing tips for 2022

As this year closes and things become a little quieter, it’s the perfect time to reflect on what marketing has worked for your business and review where you’re heading in 2022.

The impact of Covid-19 has no doubt influenced a change in your customer’s needs and behaviour, so it’s prudent to take a look at some of the marketing basics to make sure you have solid foundations in place on which to build and grow. Here’s my quick marketing checklist to get you on track for a great 2022:

  1. Look again at your customer – how have their needs changed? It’s highly likely that your product is still relevant, but is the way your customers buy it and the messaging you’re using still applicable? Reassess your target customer profile and tweak messaging and how you communicate if needed.

  2. Audit your website to make sure it reflects any customer changes and has the ability to still generate new leads. What’s missing? Has your blog/news content schedule held up and did you regularly post? Or would a comms plan provide some extra structure for 2022?

  3. Whilst you’re online, also reconsider any social media; are you using the right channels still, or have your customers found new ones without you realising? It’s better to have fewer channels with great content than lots of rubbish ones! And don’t forget online communities such as Facebook groups – these are becoming ever more popular this year.

  4. Is your branding consistent? Consistency helps to generate trust in your business, brand(s) and products, so if your website looks totally different to your social media channels then you’re not helping yourself. Refresh the imagery and make sure consistent branding is rolled out across all formats.

  5. Video is gold! Consider the monumental rise of TikTok and it doesn’t take a genius to realise the world loves video and it doesn’t have to be professionally edited and expensive versions either. Short, sharp and to the point, videos can be massively beneficial using easy to comprehend messages and then pointing viewers your website to find more detailed background info.

2022 offers so many opportunities, it just takes a bit of planning and resource. If that’s where you’re struggling and need help, then let’s talk.

Happy new year!
